Rebecca Turner is a registered dietitian, nutritionist, and a certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Using science-based food and behavior strategies, Rebecca aims to inspire and nurture a positive relationship with food that enhances overall well-being, self-image and athletic performance. She envisions a world where no one abuses food to silence pain; where health and beauty is not defined by a number, and where everyone chooses to nourish their mind, body, and spirit in order to achieve their full potential. I love Jesus, our Planet, omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans. No one is 100% right or 100% wrong, and all whole food eaters should unite to support farmers and sustainable agriculture.
Sugar is considered public enemy number one in the obesity epidemic plaguing our country and for good reason. The largest source of calories for Americans comes from added sugars. Americans are consuming on an average 3lbs of sugar every week! This is alarming since science has repeatedly shown that excess sugar in our diet takes a devastating toll on our health. You don’t need a degree in nutrition to know that sweetened beverages, candy, cakes, cookies, and pies are packed with sugar. What you might not realize is that processed sugar hides in everything from tomato sauce and salad dressing to crackers and bread.
