Part of making the most of each day means starting your day off right. As you will see in the next tip, this means eating an energy boosting breakfast and setting daily intentions. Starting your morning off right also involves waking up a couple of minutes early if necessary to make time for you before the day begins. Getting up a little earlier will allow you to do what you need to do to take care of yourself before you have to take care of everyone else.

2. Eat An Energy Boosting Breakfast

A good breakfast is essential

Many working moms find that they are too busy to get a healthy breakfast, so they skip this important meal to save time. Unfortunately, this is not the best way to make the most of your day as it’s important to fuel your body first thing before you get your day started. I recommend that my patients start their day with a high protein breakfast to keep them feeling full longer and to help stabilize their blood sugar throughout the morning until lunch. Start by incorporating some eggs, coconut cream and berries, or a superfood smoothie with unsweetened almond milk, berries, flaxseeds and collagen protein into your breakfast routine. Pick what works best for you and something that is going to be realistic for you to enjoy before you start your day.

3. Set Daily Intentions

A great way to get the most of each day is to start your day by setting some daily intentions. Decide on what’s most important and jot it down on paper. You will be more likely to stick to it and to stay motivated if you set an intention before your day started and if you have it written down front and center where you can see it throughout the day.

4. Practice Mindfulness

Setting up a mindfulness-based practice is a great way to get the most of each day. By going about your day and being mindful of what you have going on you will be able to more efficiently and calmly go about what you need to get done. Start by just setting a couple of minutes per day aside and work your way up. Being mindful is also a great way to take some time out when you are stressed out and overwhelmed and can help you center yourself again.

5. Take Time Out

Take time off and relax

Taking time out each day is a great way to make the most of the day as being stressed out is not going to make you as efficient at what it is you need to get done. Next time you are feeling overwhelmed with what you need to get done, try taking a couple of minutes just to relax, meditate, or take a couple of deep breaths to re-center and get ready to take on the rest of your day.

6. Get Active

Being active and not just the gym helps

Getting active each day can help boost your health long term and can make you more productive. Being active doesn’t necessarily mean you have to go to the gym each day but moving your body in some fashion is an excellent way to give your body a boost! Walking, yoga, cycling, dancing these all count. Do what you enjoy so you are more likely to stick to an exercise routine.

7. Do Something Outside Your Comfort Zone

Making the most of each day means doing something outside of your comfort zone! Great things happen when we reach for things we didn’t think were possible and broaden our horizons. Try to do something that makes you a bit uncomfortable such as doing something to boost your business success or do something to work on you such as attending an exercise class you may have been nervous to do before.

8. Meal Prep Like A Pro

Prepping for the entire week saves time

Meal prepping is a great way to make the most of each day because you will be spending less time in the kitchen and spending more time doing the things you enjoy and doing things to improve your work and home life. Try setting 1-2 days a week aside for a little meal preparation time. Make the slow cooker or crockpot your best friend by having the slow cooker do all the cooking work. Make large batches and then freeze leftovers that you can enjoy throughout the week.

9. Reduce Your Obligations

Saying no can help once in a while

Sometimes saying “no” is the best thing you can do for you and the best thing you can do to make the most of your day. High-performance women are often used to just saying “yes” to everything but sometimes that’s not necessary and saying “yes” to everything may actually hinder your success. Take a look at your schedule and figure out what you can take off of your schedule to make more time for what really matters such as spending more time with the kids and family.

10. Make Time For What Matters

Sort out time for what matters

Speaking of making time for what matters, this is an important part of making the most of each day. By making more time for what matters, you will feel more productive during the times you have to work because you will know that you have time set aside each day to do what matters most in life.
