When one area is off balance, it will impact the others, leading to a continuous cycle of frustration and confusion. It’s important to be able to look at the various parts of one’s life and see where positive, lasting changes can be made, so that a more balanced, happy and healthy life – the life you were MEANT to live – can be achieved.

Curejoy had the pleasure to get Tina to divulge some interesting facts about natural ways to Skin Care and why the ‘inside out” approach works to reverse signs of aging:

Are Cosmetics Really The Answer To Get That Ethereal Youthful Look?

The real answer to not only looking youthful, but feeling youthful, comes from the inside out; nourishing yourself both emotionally, physically and with clean, whole foods that are right for your body. Sure cosmetics may help you feel more confident when you’re wearing them and many might promise anti-aging benefits, but this is not the solution for longterm youthful skin.

In fact, many cosmetics may actually damage the quality your skin and health over time, due to the harsh chemicals and ingredients in them.

Why Do You Feel Handling Your Diet And Mind Can Reflect Positively On Your Skin?

What you put on the inside is reflected on the outside. This doesn’t just pertain to weight, but to your skin and hair as well. It’s important to eat foods that your body can properly digest so you can absorb nutrients that it needs and eliminate toxins that would otherwise lead to inflammation in the body. When your body can’t break down food efficiently and toxins remain circulating throughout it, one way in which this is reflected is through your skin, in such ways as acne, dry skin, premature aging and allergies.

Stress is also a factor that gets in the way of proper digestion, so focusing not only on giving your body the foods that it can digest properly but also supporting your digestion through stress management techniques such as exercise, journaling and meditating are going to be the keys to healthy, youthful, glowing skin.

Why Do You Believe That A Single Standard Diet Will Not Work For Everyone?

Everyone’s body is unique and therefore everyone’s body needs different foods and lifestyle changes to heal it, nourish it and make it thrive. When you try to apply one single diet to everyone, this won’t work because of that. Your body’s ability to assimilate the foods you eat is not the same as someone else’s.

A great way to begin to understand what foods are good for you is to keep a food journal and begin to document not only the foods you eat, but how you feel physically, mentally and emotionally before, during and after eating them. Among other things, you can begin to identify what foods are affecting your skin, energy, moods and digestion. These are the foods that you should begin to reduce or eliminate.

Can A Healthy Lifestyle Actually Reverse The Signs Of Aging On Your Skin?

Absolutely. Studies have shown that a healthy lifestyle can reverse the signs of aging. Antioxidant rich foods such as berries, orange and yellow fruits and vegetables, and dark leafy greens, as well as healthy fats and proteins help hydrate, protect and repair the skin from free radical damage. They also help support cell turnover which aids sweeping away dead skin cells and replacing them with healthy new ones.

Proper nutrition can also reduce wrinkles, dry, sagging skin and even grey hair. However, it’s important to think of aging from a preventative standpoint as opposed to a treatment standpoint if possible, because there is only so much any sort of treatment can do once the damage is done.

What Tips Would You Like To Give Our Readers To Start Looking At Skin Care As A Preventive Care Than Curative?

Start using a food journal to begin identifying foods that are not serving your body well. In addition, reduce processed foods, fried foods, sugar, and alcohol which affect digestion, cell turnover and repair and dehydrate the body. Eliminating or reducing dairy and gluten can also greatly improve the quality of your digestion and skin as they are among the most difficult foods to break down and can prove to be clogging to your skin. I myself suffered from cystic acne due to dairy and once I cut it out, I saw an incredible improvement in the quality of my skin.

In order to avoid getting overwhelmed by the foods you can’t eat, focus on what beneficial lifestyle changes you can make and what foods you can eat. Consume a variety of fruits, vegetables, healthy fats such as avocados, nuts, seeds, coconut oil and olive oil, lean and plant-based proteins, gluten-free whole grains and fermented foods – which help support healthy digestion – such as sauerkraut, miso, kimchi, kombucha and kefir. In addition make sure to stay hydrated with plenty of water and herbal teas throughout the day. Practicing daily stress management and including daily exercise are also incredibly beneficial to supporting healthy skin and overall health.

Also, practice the 80/20 rule when it comes to any lifestyle changes to ensure you don’t get overwhelmed and give up. Do good by your body 80% of the time and be a little more relaxed 20% of the time. You don’t have to be “perfect”, you just have to make the best choices for you as best as you can. Living a healthy and happy life is all about balance, not deprivation.
