4 Holistic Therapies For Weight Loss

The energy systems of the human body operate in harmony with the energy systems of the universe. Traditional methods of healing were based on cleansing, balancing and strengthening the body’s energies to resonate with the universal energies, to instill physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

The stress and strains of modern day living can inadvertently disrupt our body’s energy systems, which can create disorder and disharmony, resulting in dis-ease.

Traditional Indian energy healers believe that the underlying cause of weight gain stems from energy imbalances within our thyroid and reproductive glands. These glands are part of the endocrine system and their role is to secrete the numerous vital hormones, essential for our optimum health and well-being.

Our glands can easily become disturbed due to the exposure of physical, mental, emotional, and environmental stress. Re-connecting with ancient Indian holistic wisdom, allows us to treat the underlying cause of our ailments, by empowering our body’s innate self-healing capacity.

Energy Healing Therapy

Energy healing therapy is the traditional Indian holistic practice of balancing the body’s energy systems, by gently stimulating areas of the body which relate to the glands, organs, tissues and so forth to increase the flow of universal life energy throughout the entire being.

This assists in the removal of negative energies, the release of energy blockages and the correction of energy imbalances, to promote balance and harmony within the physical, mental and emotional body.

Traditionally, energy healing therapy was practiced to reinforce the awareness of our connection with the entire universe.

Apply the following energy healing techniques to regulate and empower the endocrine glands. The glands are interrelated, therefore if one gland becomes imbalanced the health of the remaining glands is affected.

Thyroid Gland

Place your index fingers one inch below the inside corners of your collarbone, where there is a slight indentation. Press gently for two minutes, three times a day.

Reproductive Glands

Firmly press the area around the inner and outer wrist bones and ankle bones, using the tip of your thumb. Apply for four minutes, three times a day.

Pituitary Gland

Place your fingertips on the inside edges of your eyebrows, at the center of your forehead. Press gently for one minute, three times a day.

Pineal Gland

Place the fingertips of both hands on the crown of your head. Press gently for one minute, three times a day.

Thymus Gland

Place your fingertips at the center of your chest. Gently massage using small, circular clockwise movements for two minutes, three times a day.

Pancreas Gland

Place your fingertips three inches directly above your naval. Gently massage using small circular clockwise movements, for one minute, three times a day

Adrenal Glands

Place your fingertips one inch above and out from your naval. Apply firm intermittent pressure for two minutes, three times a day.

Lymph Glands

Intermittently press the inside of each wrist, in line with the middle finger, using the thumb for one minute, three times a day.

The lymph gland treatment is the last to be applied, to allow any impurities or imbalances to be removed through the lymphatic system.

Breathe slowly and deeply throughout and end the treatment by drinking warm herbal tea to assist the kidneys in flushing out released toxins.

Yogic Breath Therapy

Yogic breath therapy is the traditional Indian holistic practice of breathing techniques, to clear physical, emotional and mental energy imbalances, to allow the breath to flow smoothly throughout the body.

Our breath is our life force and by expanding our life force we can harmonize with the life force of the universe. Regular practice restores and strengthens the body’s energy systems to initiate self-healing.

Traditionally, yogic breath therapy was practiced to prepare the mind for meditation.

The bellows breath technique stimulates the endocrine glands, strengthens the digestive organs and increases will power and determination. Practice on an empty stomach.

  • Kneel on the floor with your back straight and your abdomen relaxed.
  • Inhale deeply and forcefully for approximately one second, through your nose.
  • Exhale deeply and forcefully for approximately one second, through your nose.
  • Repeat these quick and forceful inhalations and exhalations, one after the other for twenty seconds.
  • Rest and breathe normally.
  • The abdomen, during practice, should resemble bellows.
  • Gradually increase the practice time to forty seconds, three times a day.

Mudra Therapy

Mudra therapy is the traditional Indian holistic practice of positioning the hands and fingers into specific spiritual gestures to allow the elements of the body to regain equilibrium, and encourage self-healing. From the thumb to the little finger, each corresponds to the elements of the universe; fire, air, space, earth, and water.

Traditionally, mudra therapy was practiced in conjunction with yogic breath therapy to channel the vital flow of energy to an area of the body that required healing.

The Ushas Mudra

It assists in releasing excess weight by balancing the sacral chakra (energy center located in the lower abdomen) which influences physical desires, including the appetite.

  • Sit upright and briskly rub your hands together for ten seconds.
  • Gently place your hands on your sacral chakra for a few minutes and allow any physical tension to be dissolved.
  • Clasp your hands together and lightly press your top thumb into your lower thumb.
  • (Males should place the right thumb on top of the left thumb and females should place the left thumb on top of the right thumb).
  • Inhale vigorously whilst placing your clasped hands behind your head.
  • Stretch your elbows as far back as is comfortable.
  • Exhale slowly and deeply.
  • Keep your clasped hands behind your head and continue to inhale vigorously and exhale deeply for a few minutes.
  • Release the clasp and repeat.
  • Practice three times a day, before meals.

The Apan Mudra

It assists in releasing excess weight by detoxifying the endocrine glands which play the important role of secreting the numerous vital hormones essential for physical, mental and emotional well-being.

  • Briskly rub your hands together for ten seconds.
  • Gently place your hands on your solar plexus chakra (located in the upper abdomen) for a few minutes and allow any emotional tension to be dissolved.
  • Place the tip of your thumb, middle finger and ring finger together.
  • Relax and extend your index and little finger.
  • Practice two times a day, for up to an hour, during meditation or relaxation.

Crystal Therapy

Crystal therapy is the traditional Indian holistic practice of placing the earth’s natural stones within the body’s magnetic field to restore the flow of healthy positive energy within and around the body by removing the toxic negative energy.

The earth is crystalline and our bodies are crystalline, in essence, therefore our energies resonate harmoniously with the vibration of crystals. Each crystal possesses a unique chemical make-up which determines its appearance and healing property.

Placing a crystal in our energy field or on a chakra allows our body to raise its vibration to that of the crystal. Traditionally, crystal therapy was widely used to treat the organs and systems of the body, mind, and spirit.

To assist in releasing excess weight, carry the following crystals or place them on your table at mealtimes and under your pillow at bedtime.
