Yoga is practiced by millions across the globe but very few know the basic etiquettes that needs to be followed at yoga class. Basic yoga etiquettes that must be followed for a fulfilling yoga class are being punctual, maintaining personal hygiene, wearing appropriate yoga clothes, not bringing the cell phone into the class and respecting the instructor.
Take the load off. Hot water and Epsom salts relax your muscles, so take a hot shower. Drink non-caffeine, non-alcohol hot drinks. Play dead with the relaxing corpse pose. Meditate or read a fun book. Pamper yourself with a manicure, pedicure, or hot oil treatment while watching TV. Coloring is not only for kids. Get creative - knit, draw. Treat sore muscles with a massage.
Avoid wearing jewelry like bracelets, necklaces, watches and toe rings that dangle and can snag on the yoga mat. Avoid tight pants that interfere with deep breathing and restrict your stretches. Baggy pants can cause you to trip over during pose transitions. Avoid revealing clothes and make sure that the sleeves of your shirt don’t come down past your wrist.
Drink a lot of water, this will help cope with the elevated heart rate and sweating. Take a shower, this alerts and freshens your body. Wear light clothes, it will make movement easier. Avoid eating before and one hour after yoga. Use a thin mat and keep an open mind, forget any opinions and expectations you have from yoga. It will improve focus and results.
