Is there anything that essential oils cannot do? From soothing our nerves to being part of our beauty routine, it seems to be able to do anything and treat almost all ailments these days. Such oils include lavender, ginger, roman chamomile, clary sage, marjoram, wintergreen, and peppermint. Joining the list of benefits and treatment of what these oils can perform are muscle spasms and cramps.
Two common arthritis forms are osteoarthritis – a degenerative joint disease or rheumatoid arthritis – an autoimmune condition. Essential oils have a great impact on pain relief. A blend of eucalyptus, lavender, marjoram, rosemary, and peppermint in proportions of 2:1:2:1:1 is very effective for arthritis patients. Frankincense, lavender, chamomile, yarrow, and wintergreen (particularly with peppermint) essential oils act as anti-inflammatory and analgesic that help relieve the painful swelling and inflammation. Dilute the essential oils with a carrier oil before use.
Ginger, Turmeric and Holy Basil have anti-inflammatory properties and can reduce pain due to inflammation. Birch Leaf and Wintergreen Essential Oil contain methyl salicylate, a key component in Aspirin. Capsaicin in capsicum and salicin in White Willow Bark help reduce pain causing hormones. While Aquamin and Bromelain help cope with arthritis pain.
