It has anti-inflammatory properties so it is effective in treating skin problems that have an inflammatory component, like psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, etc. Even though there is no evidence to support the effectiveness of nicotinamide in the broader population, there is no harm in taking the supplement. A dose of 500 milligrams twice a day does not seem to do any harm to the person taking it.
