As you lose weight, you also begin to lose fat on your face. This makes your eyes look hollow. If you lose a lot of fat, the reddish-blue blood vessels, especially the ones surrounding your face, appear more transparent, making the area around your eyes look darker.

Swallowing difficulties, dementia, and poorly controlled diabetes are more common in older people and are all associated with poor hydration.

  • Vitamin C deficiency is a reason for sunken eyes. Vitamin C is required in the form of collagen. Collagen is responsible for the overall look of your skin. One of the most common signs of vitamin C deficiency is the spontaneous rupture of capillaries, which leads to bruising. This, accompanied by unhealthy skin, makes your eyes look sunken. Consuming vitamin-rich foods is necessary. These foods include oranges, kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, strawberries, and others.
  • Vitamin K deficiency may cause sunken eyes. Vitamin K is responsible for blood clotting. It also strengthens the walls of the capillaries, preventing them from breaking. This deficiency not only impairs the formation of blood clots but also puts you at risk of bruising if there is a breakage of capillaries. Green leafy vegetables, spring onions, cabbage, cucumbers, and others are good sources of vitamin K.
  • Iron deficiency may also cause sunken eyes. Iron is a component of hemoglobin and hemoglobin gives the red color to your blood. If hemoglobin is lower in the red blood cells, then there is a deficiency of iron in your body. The blood will not appear red, and this will be easily visible through the thin, delicate skin under the eyes. This will make your eyes look sunken with dark circles. Adding iron-rich foods to your diet should help with this problem. Sources of iron include red meat, seafood, beans, dark green leafy vegetables, dry fruits, and others.
