Achieving mental peace is not always an easy task. Sometimes, even when you sit in a quiet, peaceful place, you may be troubled by the loud voices running amok in your head. You end up being more stressed when your mental peace is disrupted by no one else, but yourself.
Your consciousness does not have any form, but your negative thoughts arise and take shape in this formless consciousness of yours. They manifest as noises, which are constantly attempting to sort themselves out. They may cause you to suffer, but they can also be a gateway through which you will be able to overcome all forms of suffering and discover the truth about your existence. The only way to end the anguish caused by the noises in your head is to let them be and not get intertwined in them. You cannot achieve freedom from the shackles of these voices only by knowing how you can do it. It takes a lot of effort and plenty of patience.
1. You Cannot Follow A Quick-Fix Technique
If you want to achieve mental peace, then you should get it clear that there is no quick-fix technique or a magic pill to help you do that. If you don’t want your mind to send out negative or fearful images, you cannot force it to stop. As soon as you get tired of constantly holding your thoughts on a leash, the negativity will flood back in. You may force your mind to focus on other things through meditation, but this too is a temporary fix.
2. Find The Place Of Calm
You should know that a place of calm, where your mind can enjoy peace and stillness, always exists. You need to allow yourself to find this place.
- Sit comfortably on a chair or on your bed and relax.
- Close your eyes and let go of your mind and body.
- Let your thoughts run wild, don’t stop them.
- Do this for as long as it takes.
Allowing your mind to do whatever it wants without stopping it will allow you to recognize the calm that is present in the background of all the negative thoughts and emotions. This stillness is powerful and is unaffected by the noises. It will help you discover the essence of your true self.
3. Don’t Force Yourself To Stay In The Place Of Calm
Once you find the place of calm, you get so overwhelmed by the therapeutic effect it has on your mind that you try to stay there forcefully. Every time you sit down, you may coerce your mind to find this place, but it does not work like that. You will end up adding to the noise in your mind. You have to let your mind do it on its own, without conscious effort.
4. Learn To Let Go
As long as you try to hold on to peace or try to control the way your mind works, you will not be able to achieve the desired effect. You will end up being trapped in a vicious cycle of mental peace and chaos. Learn to let go and let your thoughts be. You will soon realize that these negative thoughts will get sorted on their own. Initially, you will be scared to surrender to your thoughts, but by doing so, you will be able to gain wisdom about who you truly are.
5. Take Your Time
One of the biggest mistakes you can make when trying to drown the voices in your head is rushing through the entire process. You see the light at the end of the tunnel, and you tend to make a dash for it, causing you to end up where you started. You need to take your time. It is not easy to let go of the control of your mind. It takes a lot of time. For some, it may take much longer than others, so you have to be patient. There is no permanent cure for the voices. You will be free only when you allow yourself to take time and realize that who you are is pure, joyful, and healthy.
6. Give Up Control
You do not have to be in charge of everything that goes on in your head and in your life. Just go with the flow and let life take control of your being. Realize that you don’t have to struggle. Follow your heart and give up control of the things that make you suffer. You will be free and happy by letting nature take care of you.
Your mind is beautiful and pure and so are you. Let go of control and trust your mind to do the right thing. Soon enough you will be free from the voices that haunt you.
