How To Use Apple Cider Vinegar To Kill Sinus Infections

Treat Sinusitis With This Drink

Sinus disease is an extremely common condition, affecting more than 31 million people in the U.S. alone. Sinuses are small cavities behind your forehead and cheekbones that are usually filled with air. However when you have a sinus infection, these cavities fill up with fluid containing bacteria and viruses or even fungi. When this happens, the cavity swells up, its lining gets inflamed and you experience severe pain.

Most times, this happens when you suffer from a viral fever or infection. The infection can spread to your sinuses, causing them to get inflamed. It can also occur when you have a bad cold. The excess phlegm leads to sinus blockages and irritates the lining of the cavities. If you’re allergic to something, your sinuses can get inflamed when you’re next to the allergen and become blocked. Some people are born with a deviated septum, which puts them at a higher risk for developing sinus infections. Asthma is another condition that leads to a predisposition towards developing sinus infections. Most children suffering from childhood asthma also have sinus infections, which makes it very difficult for them to breathe properly.

Types Of Sinusitis

1. Recurrent Sinusitis

There Are Three Main Kinds Of Sinusitis

People with recurrent sinusitis suffer from a few attacks of sinus infections every year. This might be because they’re allergic to something or they have a condition that causes them to be more vulnerable to sinus infections.

2. Acute Sinusitis

Acute sinusitis can happen to anyone. It is usually brought on by a fever or cold and not because of a recurrent condition. People with acute sinusitis experience severe colds and runny noses or a blocked nose. The condition lasts for about a month and clears up eventually.

3. Chronic Sinusitis

Drink This Tonic Twice A Day

People suffering from chronic sinusitis have symptoms that can last for more than 2 months. Their condition is usually not brought on by an illness, but internal conditions like a deviated septum.

Apple Cider Vinegar To Cure Sinusitis

Apple cider vinegar is an ancient remedy that was used to cure sinus infections. This common ingredient is one of the best natural tonics for sinusitis and can provide immediate as well as long-term relief. Apple cider vinegar contains natural antibiotics that kill harmful bacteria which cause sinus infections. Because the drink is so pungent, it can also immediately clear your airways and help you breathe easier. Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar is a great source of important probiotics. Probiotics are beneficial bacteria which line your gut and balance your glut flora. These little bacteria in your gut can strengthen your immunity and help you recover faster from a sinus infection. They can also help you fight off harmful invaders, protecting you from another bout of sinus infections.

Recipe

Ingredients

3 tbsps apple cider vinegar
Juice from 1 lemon (freshly squeezed, not bottled)
½ cup coconut water
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp organic raw honey

Method

1. Add coconut water to a saucepan and turn on the heat. When it’s heated through (but not boiling), take it off the heat.

2. Add apple cider vinegar to it and let the mixture cool down.

3. Add the cayenne pepper and honey. Stir well to ensure that everything is combined properly.

4. Now add the honey and keep stirring to make sure all the ingredients are fully incorporated.

Make this drink at least two times a day until your sinus infection clears up. Drink it once in the morning on an empty stomach and once at night before going to sleep. The number of days it will take for your infection to clear up depends on the severity of your condition. If you have a moderate attack of sinusitis, your symptoms should reduce in a matter of days. However, if you don’t see any change in your condition even after two weeks, visit a doctor.
