All You Need To Know About Spirulina

Spirulina and I had a very interesting beginning.

I remember myself sitting in the last row of the lecture room impatiently waiting for the professor to come.

To kill the time I looked around the room and there was this young girl with long dreads sitting right in front of me. She was sipping on a dark-green-juicy-like drink right out of a glas jar. Curious as I am, I couldn’t help but ask what it consists of.

This was the very first time I ever heard of Spirulina and all I could think was Spiru? What?

The girl was very eager to tell me more about this allegedly green wonder powder, but we got interrupted by the professor and the lecture started.

I have to admit that the first thought that came up was What a hippie, she obviously exaggerates here! Only the sandals and the linen trousers are missing – what a greenie!

Ok, this was me being judgmental, fearing everything new and obviously haven’t had a clue of what’s going on.

Who would have thought that, a couple of years later I would be the biggest advocate of Spirulina. You could even say a walking preacher. A health nut hippie with heels.

So, what’s the heck with this dark green (weird named) Spirulina and why should you take it daily?

What Spirulina Contains

Spirulina is a freshwater blue-green algae that’s been harvested from lakes for thousands of years in many different parts of the world. With the most remarkable concentration of nutrients known in any plant, food, herb or grain it well deserves the label superfood.

Furthermore, it gives your body all you need. This is not an overstatement here! Spirulina is packed with concentrated beta carotene, vitamin B12, trace minerals, iron and even vitamin K. With over 60% digestible vegetable protein, it ranks among the highest protein foods.

How Does Spirulina Help?

It acts as a support system and helps your liver to balance your blood fat levels. Which is crucial for weight management.
A daily Spirulina fix improves brain function! Unless you’re the reborn Mr. Einstein we can all benefit of a little brain and concentration boost. Can’t we?

It makes you feel AMAZING! Seriously, I wouldn’t want to start a day without it and it totally replaced my desperately needed early morning coffee shot. Which actually can be considered, without any doubt, as the eighth wonder of the world.

Ok, great. YOU GOT ME! But how shall you use it?

Easy!

Ways To Take Spirulina – Quick And Easy

I understand, you are super busy, especially in the morning, with little to no time to fuss in the kitchen, so overall priority would be quick, simple and tasty:

  • Mix 1 tbsp quality Spirulina powder with ½ cup of fresh orange juice – this is my personal way to get my daily shot).
  • If you don’t want to be bothered with powder and juice, take a quality Spirulina supplement – this is obviously the fastest way.
  • Personally, I prefer the powder version, as this is the purest form you can get it. The purer, the better.
  • Get creative and make your own energy Spirulina bar
  • Go and visit your organic health store and look for whole food energy snacks that list Spirulina as a top ingredient.
